Weejuns are blake/rapid. You can get 'em resoled if you want. They're cheap because the construction is minimalist- which works great for a penny loafer. That, and the leather ain't top grade.

A lot of shoes in that price range are gluejobs, but weejuns (past a certain point, anyway- the rubber sole ones are) aren't.

personally i have a soft spot for aldens even thro i dont own any, due to not finding a last that fits me right

google "slow fashion" quite interesting in its concept

a pita?

so what's the difference going to northampton via london or going to eastern makers via vienna, budapest or warsaw. it's probably the same.

i also think the prize stateside for aldens is in a comfort zone. not in the EU. second hand market isn't existing either in the EU, despite obscene ripp offs.

Got these boots about 6 months back- well worn now, quite comfy as well.

Just had a brief glance at theshoefoundation.org - noted in your signature. Looks interesting.

Oooooh, alright thanks. Guess Weejuns are pretty good for the price point. I had a pair of regular leather Weejuns resoled, but I figured the cobbler just glued them given that it seemed like there was glue residue in the seam between the upper and the sole.

Is there a way I could find out if the cobbler just glued on new soles or if he actually had a Blake stitching machine? I'll probably swing by tomorrow and ask.

Love the blue suede, but I have an intense aversion to any deck shoes with more than two eyelets on the quarters. Two eyelets is so engrained for me that I always think shoes with three or more have some sort of weird growth on them.

These were done by a bespoke shoemaker here in India- I just gave him a brief idea of what I was looking for, showed him some sample pictures, confirmed the shade and had them with me about 45 days later.
