Mostly. Taxing labor and capital while not taxing land is both unjust and inefficient-- and it's something that leftists and rightists could agree on if they opened their minds.

There's good Mexican food in Sunset Park. A lot of Mexicans too.

I feel like one thing NYC needs more of is places for recreational sports, like ball fields and skate parks and stuff like that. And a greener state of mind. Other than that, hm ... Maybe not affordable enough for the average person.

Really? I always hear these stories of culinary orgasms in Flushing... or is your comment about Manhattan? (my comment about parks was about Manhattan too btw)

Well, I was mostly thinking of Manhattan, but Flushing's reputation for good Chinese food is extremely exaggerated, in my opinion. It just appears not so broadly terrible as in Manhattan. In my experience, you have to go where the wealthier Chinese Americans live for better Chinese food--namely, the suburbs.

Saw this after i posted. "etremely exaggerated" is pretty bold unless you have a point of reference. There are tons of restaurants in the Main street vicinity alone, so it really depends which Flushing spots you're speaking for and against.

I don't get this. Manhattan, at least, is largely very clean. It's more chaotic and crowded, maybe messier, than a city like Chicago, but you don't see random trash lying around. The Upper West Side is positively pristine, thank you very much.

Been there, done that. Not all that impressed. I'm convinced that New Yorkers just don't know what Chinese food (even faux Chinese food) can be at its best.

C'mon, there are giant piles of garbage bags on our streets. If you come from the suburbs, or a city with alleys, it could be a bit of a shock.

Do you think people who complain about NYC being dirty refer to the garbage bags being taken out after 6pm and picked up before 8am on garbage pickup days?

I think they're referring to all those homeless guys shitting on the sidewalk

Ah ... therein likes the problems ... from the surburbs ... where everything is nice and neat and in its place.

No, thank you.

I do think it's a big part of it. I can't say I'd heard the "homeless shitter" story before. FWIW, I grew up in the suburbs and first came to NY for a hot summer weekend. The smell was a shock.
