Auto drip is not inherently bad. Moccamaster, for example. And any good barista using a very good Fetco or Bunn can make a drip that outshines most people's pour-overs. I've had plenty.

Opened a bag from Hydrangea Coffee. It smelled like Big League Chew in a good way. Still convinced they added something to the beans.

I had a bag from Barrington years ago that advertising tasting like bergamot. The flavor note was so over the top (the beans even smelled strongly of bergamot) that I'm reasonably convinced they just added bergamot oil to it.

It was extremely tasty so I'm not complaining on that front, but seems like something you should be honest about. There's a difference between "notes of bergamot" and "Earl Grey coffee."

Yeah I mean, in the cup it was watermelon, peach, blueberry, florally fruity and delicious. It's kind of all I like in a modern-style cup.

I agree. I like pourover when I want one or two cups. It was my routine when I was a bachelor. These days, we use the Moccamaster for a full pot at home and I don’t miss anything, flavor wise.

I agree that a large volume commercial drip machine will make better coffee than most pourovers: it minimizes all the issues one has with single-serving brews because the volume of water and coffee is so much bigger.

Also with Fellow, I'd avoid their version 1 stuff: their V2 stuff tends to be better if there is one. If the V1 sticks around for a while without too many complaints, they probably got it right, but you need to wait a while to see that.

the drip coffee maker that i use makes great coffee. what i make at home is better than what my neighbor gave me from his fancy delonghi machine on which he made me a single serving.

I have a problem. Bought this today. Probably now have about a pound of non frozen beans. Irregardlessly.... Radio is a consistently good roaster. This isnt damning with faint praise they are like any other quality third wave roaster. Cute barista who was flirting with me said this is a great selection. Made my first cup using tetsuo switch recipe. There's a lot of earl gray not just bergamot in the cup. Its a very soft caramelly drink.

Ahh... I see. I love my coffee "problem" and, in fact, just added the Orea V4 to my lineup of (far-too-many) brewers this weekend. I've reframed coffee prep as more of a hobbie, so it makes it all seem less of a problem 😊

I hear you! My freezer is getting full of coffee: I currently have 2 subscriptions, and can't resist all the cool stuff that shows up on Howell or the Fellow coffee drops. The Fellow stuff is especially insidious because you literally have to text 1 character to buy a bag. Nevertheless, I highly recommend it, because you can get really interesting coffees that's hard to get in the US: I just got another Wendleboe recently and the last drop was for an Ethiopian from April. They also survey all the other interesting US roasters, so I can try things outside of my normal routine.

As for coffee toys, I've kind of stabilized since getting the Nextlevel Pulsar: I tend to stick to a brewer for years though I did get the Ode V2 recently after using an OE Apex for a couple of years. Mostly these days, it's just buying paper filters.
