And now it comes to light Obamacare incentivizes broken families.
Quote:
The marriage penalty results largely from the fact that the combined salaries of couples can push them out of the range of eligibility faster than if they were unmarried and their paychecks were treated separately.

Here's why: The federal poverty level of a two-person household ($15,510) is less than double that of a one-person household ($11,490).

Take a couple who combined make $40,000 and don't have access to employer-sponsored insurance. Both partners are 35, each makes $20,000 and they don't have kids.

They will pay nearly $1,300 less for two silver-level plans in the exchanges after accounting for federal subsidies than if they were married, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation's health insurance subsidy calculator.

And that holds true whether they live in New York City, Las Vegas, Louisville, or Lawrence, Kansas.

To be fair to Obamacare though this economic incentive to dissolve the institution of marriage is hardly unique to this plan and is actually hallmark of a majority of liberal social safety net programs.

Why should you be rewarded for being responsible? Don't you realize it's the irresponsible who need the most help? As we all know, black people are the least likely to get married, so you're trying to encourage racism. Dog whistle. 9/11.

The whole scenario is implausible. Everyone knows women make 5 cents on the dollar compared to men.

Exclusive: Obama personally apologizes for Americans losing health coverage

Obama should have immediately fessed up and it would have been better for him than the obfuscating ( a fancy word for bullshitting ).

Being fair to him, it seems like almost all politicians do this. I wouldn't expect any of them to say, "I lied" but why not "I made a mistake"!

Excuse me? Are you calling my president a liar? If so I'm reporting your ass.

More likely an uniformed incompetent than a liar.

Yeah, welcome back here ap. I bet your youngest is getting big.

"More likely an uniformed incompetent than a liar" rather than "More likely uninformed" says a bit.

More Carterish than Clintonish and I agree.

But I think you said once something like, "do we want Palins or her sort instead"?

Sadly, given a Ted Cruz type or BO type to vote for, I vote for BO or sit it out.

Thanks A! The little guy is 11 on Monday and in middle school. His latest pair of Nikes was a size 8, 1/2 size smaller than me!

Politics aside, and I say this as a lifelong Dem, Obama has been woefully incompetent in almost all respects. He can get out the vote but governing seems to be beyond him.

More Carter than Clinton, sadly I agree,
