Can anyone recommend a cobbler in London? - Page 2

I have a pair of Bruno Magli (not so fancy) shoes that need a basic leather resole. I know a bunch of dry cleaning places around my house do it (and charge ~£35 for it) however I am wondering if there are any that are recommended in my area - N1 / Essex Road near Angel. I would prefer not to have to cross London as I am away on business M-F.

Thanks!

The City Cobbler on 215 City Road, near The Eagle pub - closer to Old Street Station than Angel Station.

I found a cobbler in Richmond who has done a very good job replacing the Dainite soles on a pair of Grenson aviator boots. Total cost £45 GBP You can find them here: Cobbler Plus 7 Paved Court, Richmond TW9 1LZ 020 8940 4053

Second the recommendation of the City Cobbler on City Road. City Slickers, a dry cleaner near Leadenhall Market, also does a bang-up resole job with either leather (generic or Rendenbach) or Dainite. The latter they usually have on hand, but sometimes have to order. Very fast turnaround as well.

I'm making notes for future need - well done, fellows

Is there a thread for UK-based recrafters?

Hey, sorry to resurrect the thread but I think it's better than creating a new one.

I have these Barkers suede derby and it need some resoling. The leather sole has worn out.
I want to have danite soles on them so I rang several cobblers that were recommended on this thread.

Barker wants £90 and 4 weeks turnover.
John Rushton wants £80 and 10 days
Mayfair Cobbler wants £80 and a few days.

The shoes only costs £190 and they are my beater, I don't want to spend that much on resoling. Does anyone has any other cobbler in central London that you have tried before and that doesn't cost much? They must be able to do Dainite resoling.

Thanks!

Try getting a quote from Cobler Magic in Edgware Road and Kokos in North Finchley.

You will often find out that the cost of the materials and labour means you easily get to spend 50% of the value of a mid priced shoes.
