you could get a thousand replies (none of which would necessarily be wrong) to a post like "best khakis?"

Mountain Khakis are made tougher than any other listed in this thread

+1. I have about four pairs, super comfy and fit really well, nice and slim but casual. The ones from J Crew end up falling apart and fit like crap. The Mason's are nice but expensive. Their shirts and jackets rule too.

J Crew fits like crap? I think they have like the best fit out of all the budget khaki brands.

They aren't duck pants at all. They are very nicely made and extremely durable. Normal khakis but they are made a lot tougher (triple stitched, gusseted crotch, etc)

ah, cool. The "alpine utility pants" looks like cotton duck, but not the og mountain pants.

Where do you buy your Masons?

Check out http://www.bonobos.com They make khakis with good fits. The guy started the company because he need a fit between the skinny fit of models and the saggy butt of department store brands.

I am very partial to the J. Crew premium officers khakis. Good fit, decent details, and fairly heavy weight.

Email the store and they will send you some pics.

chino fabric usally ranges from 6 to 10.5 oz. You can have in made thicker but I don't know why you would want anything over 12.5 oz.
