Anti-rust undercoating

I have a new car in Maine. I think the dealer told me it's already rust-resistive, but I don't believe them. How much would it cost at a typical place? How long does it take?

From my experience (in Canada), it's usually around $80 to $100 depending on the size of the vehicle. Application time can take anywhere from 15 to 20 minutes. Most of your time will be spent waiting for your queue depending on how busy the shop is. Have you picked a product yet? I've been using Krown for years but I want to try something less less runny. With new / late model cars most of the steel is galvanized but it's never a 100% deterrent against rust.

Price is about right. If you shop around you can get it for cheaper.

An oil based is pretty good. I don't remember the one used on my car, but it was a yellow oil based liquid, pretty thick.

I think the black rubbery stuff is probably the best bet in terms of effectiveness and longevity. The oil based stuff they recommend you do it every year.

I've seen the electric module that's supposed to prevent rust, but I have my doubts.
