I have 2 pairs which are so wonderful and unique being NOS that I think am going to donate them to the Powerhouse Museum shoe collection in Sydney.

Here is a pair of ventilated spectators by Crosby Square from the 1930s/40s = perfect condition

A pair of spade captoes (size 7.5D) by Crosby Square from the 1930s/40s = perfect condition.

This throws me back.

I had a friend who bought and wore a pair of spades from the Twenties.

He wore them a lot, despite the laughter and ribbing.

He insisted they were the most comfortable shoes you could imagine wearing, once you learned to duck stones flung at you by small children, he said.

And if that wasn't enough to show how ballsy (or crazy) he was, he took to wearing bowling shoes on the street. Man, how we laughed at that!

Then look what happened about fifteen years later.

Some people are just ahead of their time.

Speaking of OLD, what is the most you pay for these brand new vintage 1950s (shell) Cordovans ?? (Or would you avoid these like the plague?) http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ht_2788wt_1175

They look very good, but $409 is a bit too much imo. You can get a brand new pair of aldens for not much more.
