to the original poster....yea, not sure why you just wouldnt get Gucci or Dolce & Gabanna main line? or there's always Paul Smith main line, Ozwald Boateng "bespoke couture" line...both are hand canvassed and easily get-able in LA. Their rises arent obscenely low, but lower than something normal like Brooks Brothers.

*if you havent already, check out the new Dior Homme store on Rodeo. Suits are good quality and have the criteria yer looking for.

Thanks for the info. Now are there any places besides Ebay where I can hopefully find suits like this for cheaper? I think it will be focusing on Dior Homme, Gucci, and maybe Alex McQueen, Prada, and Costume National. I don't care if they are used as long as they are in decent shape.

The best stores IME, is the bi-annual sales at stores like Barneys, Neiman Marcus etc...where the seasonal stuff goes on sale for 40-60% off. Matter of fact, the big Barneys NY sale is coming up towards end of June, and Neiman's Last Call sale should be shortly afterwards I believe. Other than that you can try Yoox (which I am a huge fan of ) or maybe eLuxury.com, but websites are real hit/miss on selection. Also Traffic in the Beverly Center carries many of the labels you mentioned and they have seasonal sales as well.

I think I may head up to LA this weekend and I'll checkout those places. Know of any good resale places where I could possible save money on a nice suit? Ebay seems really good but it's hard to weed out all the fakes.

I find that if a suit fits nice and snug around chest, waist, sleeves, and legs then it's a nice slim fitting suit regardless who made the suit (quality aside).

Something that fits an atheletic body well and shows it. Do any designer make suits right now with low-rise pants? I've heard a Gucci suit comes close to this. I started learning more about suits and found out about Kiton, Brioni, etc. but most of these off the shelf come with jackets that are very full and pleated pants (probably because CEOs are buying them). I need something that looks more like it's a suit in a fashion show. That's the kind of thing I'm looking for. Thanks!

I have a slim Miu Miu suit from 2004. The pants are lowish rise, and the jacket length is slightly short. The overall look is nicely fitted without being too snug or tight. It's pretty nice quality for an off the rack suit.

Hi everyone,

I finally had a chance to hit Beverly Hills today and do some suit shopping. Out of the cut I had mentioned in this post Dior really fit the bill. Costume National came a close second but only one of their suits had that fit. The other suits there were not as fitted. Prada was my 3rd choice as it was also a nice fit. Gucci and Paul Smith suprised me in how I did not like there fit very much. Paul Smith was much too long and baggy. The Gucci was also not as fitted as I would have expected. I also tried Versace but wasn't all that impressed. I swung by Barney's to try on a Kiton and do really love how the suit feels. This is probably due to the fact that Kiton is the best suit available to man, however, they only had pleated pants off the rack and I don't think I could afford a Kiton MTM.

Just thought I would give everyone an update. So anyone out there got some Dior suits in a 52R that they're ready to get rid of???
