4 Horsemen Custom Knit Cowichan Sweaters

We've been getting a lot of interest in this project, so I thought I would make this thread rather than reply to everyone individually. This will be the third Cowichan we have designed, last year's version can be seen here and here. Our Cowichan Sweaters are hand-knit for us in Canada using 100% Virgin Wool. The pattern is our own, and results in a sweater with high armholes, a short body, and an overall slimmer fit than you would typically find on a traditional Cowichan Sweater. The company that produces these for us has over 30 years experience hand crafting sweaters and wool accessories, and the quality of each garment is immediately evident. With this year's version we have opted to take a departure from our past designs and the traditional Cowichan imagery. We would like this to remain an annual project for us, so we want to focus on releasing something unique on each occasion. This year's sweater features the same shape and signature shawl collar of a Cowichan, but lacks any external branding or images. Instead, this sweater features large wooden buttons (we have used zippers on the prior two designs), and two-braid cable knitting down the body and sleeves. Our friend Andrew (ConceptDiba) was kind enough to stop by the shop yesterday and model the sample for us. Larger pictures can be seen at www.fourhorsemen.ca/blog. The sample is black wool, but the sweater will also be produced in navy, and seal beige. Only 15 pieces in total will be produced. I will have more details regarding price and availability soon. If you guys have any questions at all please post them here in the thread so everyone can see the answer. Thanks, Guy 4HM MEASUREMENTS: Sz.S Shoulder - 15.5 Chest - 19.5 Sleeve - 24 Length - 25.5 Sz.M Shoulder - 16.5 Chest - 20.5 Sleeve - 24.5 Length - 26 Sz.L Shoulder - 17 Chest - 21.5 Sleeve - 25.5 Length - 27 Keep in mind that because these are hand knit each garment could vary slightly. Also, expect to gain some length after a few wears as the knit loosens up. The sample has already loosened up a bit just from people trying it on in the shop. These sweaters definitely look best after a few wears. Seal Beige: This colour looks amazing in person with the wooden buttons. Lot's of people in store have called it "oatmeal", but there really is a lot of grey in it.

Great piece. The way the placket curves is beautiful.

any idea on the price point?

When will we be able to see pics of the seal beige? Will you make in size XS, and will it run TTS? TyC

They fit pretty slim. They're not a traditionally cut Cowichan...the fit is definitely geared towards the SF crowd. I'm 5'9 145 and I'm wearing a medium in the pics, if that helps.

I'll try to find a picture that showcases the seal beige colour, but i don't think we will have a sample in that colour for a little while still. They will be available in sizes S-XL. They fit quite slim, in part to account for how much the wool will stretch. Andrew is wearing a Medium and hopefully he can chime in on fit, etc. In the past most of the smalls have gone to girls. I will see if i can dig up some measurements, but it's a tough piece to be accurate with.

Haha, just trying to give you an idea of how small they fit. Definitely a unisex sweater, though i'm sure most of these will go to guys.

Thanks for the positive feedback. We are really happy with how they turned out.

Bump for measurements on the sample.

If I can scrounge the money I'm very down for a navy one in size S

of all the days for this thread to start, you pick the one which I am wearing my vintage Pendleton! Sorry to fleetingly hijack this topic.

actually come to think of it, i will wear it half oversized and get an M

Once you finalize the sizing is there any way to reserve/pre-order one? Though I suspect I'll be a S or M, depending on the size small's sleeve length.
