Girly facial products just for girls?

I'm 26 and have battled more than my fair share of acne in my younger years. As a result, my complexion shows some battle scars. If I lose my tan in the Winter (happening now), I notice that my cheek areas (not shaving related) have a bit of a reddish color to them, and have quite a bit of scaring on a closer inspection. While not horrible, if there was something I could do to get better looking skin, I'm all on board. My current regime is this: Shower once a day in the evening and use Cetaphil Daily Facial soap with a wash cloth, afterwords use cetaphil facial lotion. In the morning I'll usually just use a wet wash cloth and get the overnight grease off my face, followed by more cetaphil facial lotion. I'm currently taking a lower dosage (50mg / day) of minocycline, so that could be contributing towards maybe some reddening, or dryness I have. In any case, I always see mountains of fantastic looking facial "rejuvenation" or "revitalizing" products marketed towards women. Do any of these work? Is there something better suited for a man's face? What do you guy's use to get smoother, younger looking face?

Well, maybe. The "skin care" forum only looks to have gotten about ~5 posts in the past month. Not very active. I probably have a better chance of getting some advice from a more active bb. Any other help?

Wear SP30 sunscreen every day. Try some redness reducing masks.

I would say drop the cetaphil routine, that stuff did nothing but dry my skin out terribly.

Use Thayers Alcohol-Free Witch Hazel Toner. I use the Rose version because it was the cheapest one I could find on Ebay. I hate the fucking smell.

Apply before you sleep, and apply some before you leave the house. Use a cotton ball, and don't use too much.

I've had my fair share of acne too (used to be grade 3-4 acne). Tried Eminence Skincare products for a few months, and the results were wondrous. It arrests excess sebum secretion without drying your skin out. Helps with the pigmentation scars too. It's expensive, but much better than the stuff you see on TV most of the time.

I'd still post on the ME board. I've posted there before and despite low volume, they're on the ball... the owner is quite involved in things.

They also have a skincare guide to help you figure out what you should consider based on skin factors. Good site, been buying from them for years.

if you actually have acne(i assume the antibiotics...) then go acne.org and just skim through the many threads there. if you need a reply from someone rather then just browsing at older threads, then maybe acne.org may still be the better choice. as for redness, if its bad, stop using the wash cloth. you are adding something thats scrubbing your face. also, look into milder soaps, sensitive skin is what may be the result of harsh soaps. there is a gentle skin version of cetaphil which i like, but i dont really have sensitive skin once i removed the harsher parts of my routine. although you can argue the uses of a wash cloth(exfoliation) i try to avoid being as harsh as possible on another note, really mild/low rosacea? that is a condition that causes redness girl stuff = marketed for girls, doens't mean its made for them only. only differences between men/women market is packaging and maybe perfume/odors. usually same product or similar formulated i buy unisex/girl marketed stuff cause its cheaper, men's products are always higher priced for some stupid reason.
