Shell cordovan "hinges" more than it creases. It differs from shoe to shoe on the same last even for the same person. Don't worry about it too much - if the shoes don't fit you, you'll know immediately (esp if they are narrower).

Well right. When I used the word crease I used in the sense of hinge. At least I have learned the correct verb describing the accordion-like appearance of cordovan leather.

I know I'm very late to this party( in fact I''ve broken into the house to start my own) but I just recently benefitted from a kind forumite's generous deal and bought two Aldens with Aberdeen lasts, and traded for a third. By sizing up once(maybe that is my new size now that my feet have grown!) and adding a width the Aberdeen is comfortable without slipping. It was a stunning revelation for me. After trying 5 other times in my then standard size, I had sworn off Aberdeen.
