You disappoint me.

I rather like chalk stripe suits.

If one likes chalk stripes ... one should probably consider owning one or more.

The color combinations one actually likes, of course. I prefer grey (light to dark), navy, & brown (a medium dark) flannels.

You may well have started the trend ... still, I have (well, had one ... thanks to a moth) an Anderson & Sheppard SB suit w/ DB waistcoat that dates from the early 1990s.

Wonderful combo! The vest in particular. I would have preferred another colour in PS, but that's only my humble opinion (I still have a lot to learn from SF masters!)
BTW, do you think this pattern would do well also on a youngish early 30's like me?

Depends how you cut the suit.

He's being too modest. They aren't an exclusive club because membership is egalitarian and open to anyone starting out who also wants to pose as an authority. Fortunately, there aren't that many of them. The biggest disappointments are obviously from the results they have to live with. It's one thing to believe you're a master chef because you use the "best" ingredients, it's another thing to have to eat the slag you cook up.
