Experimenting with a pair of black shoes

I just experimented on changing the color of an old pair of penny loafers. I basically followed the instructions I've read in a thread in this forum. Here are the results. Used undiluted acetone and bleach to remove the black color After the bleach has dried up Then applied brown shoe cream and brown polish

Wow, what sort of effect does this have on the leather's health/durability? Bleach and acetone are both pretty harsh.

I really did not notice any deterioration in the leather since to start with, the leather of this shoe is not that good.
