I sometimes like coloured linings for my suits, usually shots where one side is a similar tone to the suit/coat fabric itself.
Well I find that it is hard not to 'flash' your lining (so to speak) during the day, and a bright red/green/pink/orange/whatever lining would definitely limit the shirt-tie combinations I would be happy wearing with such a suit. Admit that this is probably all in my mind (I just wouldn't 'feel' right if I knew that my suit lining violently clashed with my tie)
In all honesty, however, I could probably deal with this limitation if it wasn't for the fact that I have an irrational prejudice against loud linings and those who wear them. One of my many such peculiarities. Obviously, this does not extend to subtly different shades of lining, that work well with the suit fabric
