I think fear of rejection leads to you rejecting yourself anyways. Even though I attempt to convince myself that I don't care, it's just a girl, etc... that lingering thought of failure always stops me.
of course we care about being rejected. in the core of everyone is the need to be loved.
rejection, respect, being understood, etc are all derivatives of that . we are hardwired to take it hard when we get rejected you cant say you arent. that is human.
If you don't care about being rejected, you probably don't care too much about the person rejecting you. I guess there are just degrees of handling rejection properly.
