I could care less about your need to constantly correct your mother.

Not sure if anyone has pointed it out yet, but all arguments for or against religion are begging the question.

Ironical, isn't that?

Fair enuff. As I hope was clear, I wasn't so much caviling about your lack of initial capitalization so much as enjoying the contrast with "Shampoo".

I disagree. If by "religion" you mean "god" or "gods" or whatever, your statement is somewhat more accurate. But I still think there's a difference between (1) deciding or recognizing that a particular question cannot be answered definitively by the application of logic to empirical fact; and (2) disingenuously or inartfully structuring an argument such that it assumes its own conclusion. (2) is what "begging the question" really refers to.

You're right, I wasn't being specific. I was thinking of all the times people have cited religious text to me when trying to convert me. That is begging the question, no?

Sounds like it. Figured that was more or less what you meant, but decided I'd run with the theme j has ascribed to this thread.
