I had a marketing project for my last full semester at school, and we choose BMW. The commercials / ads were met with much enthusiasm by the class and by the professor.

Nothing compares to the pinnacle that was the e39. imo the greatest 4 door sedan of all time. That entire era was the pinnacle of car design for me and bmw nailed it.

Ha! Ironically, I chose Audi for my marketing project when I was in undergrad.

Even more ironically I have never owned a BMW and owned an Audi at the time of the project.

I think it's beautiful and I'll consider it when it's time to trade in the old E500.

unless youre of an ethnic minority, there is no reason to be driving a black mans wish in los angeles. white people need to keep it volvo, let the armos and persians drive those terrible german automobiles

^ lol, what is this guy on? I guess the E39 is a nice complete car, but if people want to talk car design that others will admire, driving experience, satisfaction, the E34 had it in droves. The E34 535i with a 5 speed, the E34 540i with a 6 (which is mechanically not too distant at all from the E39 540i/6), the two M5s with the different sized engines. There are a bunch of clunker E34's rolling around out there (tons of pale blue 525i's on bottlecaps still rolling around at 300K miles) but a nice wide-grille E34 with a big engine and manual is the quintessential BMW.

I'm also a huge fan of the E34 535i. The E39 is a favorite also, but the E34 makes me giddy when I see one in good condition on the highway. One of the best cars I ever owned was an E34 535i.

People with taste! Oh man I feel like I'm with my own kind here...everyone around me loves to talk about the new 5 series...YUCK. The newest iteration STILL cannot grasp the beauty of the E39. The E39 M5 is my dream car, and it is both beautiful and elegant. I can't wait to own one some day.

^^^The E39 M5 is a real beauty.

You're an idiot!

I just looked at this car again today, from the side. I've decided that I don't like it. Look at that hood and nose! The front is way too long for the rest of the car, and that's a seriously slanted A-pillar. Did they borrow this from the Z4?

^^^I'm glad it doesn't look as slab-sided as the current model.
