Do these jobs crush your soul or is it just me?

Any tips for maintaining sanity while stuck behind a computer screen in a cube all day?

You should by a 10 cent stock, then follow it every minute of every day.

Get really involved in your work and time flies. When you have idle time, spend it doing something productive. Like planning a vacation to somewhere without cubicles.

You can daydream about the day your job will be outsourced to India.

I spend most of my day behind a desk, and it can get tough. I don't really have anything negative to say about my work - I really like my job, and I'm really grateful for it. However, if there's anything that wears on me it's the time spent in one little area. I look forward to the days where I have a lot of meetings because it gets me out of the office for a while. I have a great job, but it would be a little better if only they'd let me do it from a park once or twice a week.

+2.

I guess this is what's tough about most cubicle jobs. They can be very enlightening, especially if someone is willing to work beyond what is expected. But when people are confied to such a drab environment, it can kill this productivity. What we really need is an adult recess. I'm all for some pick-up basketball, touch football, or some dodgeball for high stress days.

Hopefully you'll find one soon. One thing I always keep in mind is that I'm lucky to have a job at all right now, let alone a good one.

The job I have is great, and I'm learning some invaluable skills. I really don't have any room to complain, but, man, sometimes I just want to see the sunlight. One thing that is awesome about my location is that I live close enough to home to go home every day for lunch. It's a really great break right in the middle of my day.

My employer actually has a dodgeball league. I didn't participate this year, but a bunch of people from my department did. They had a great time, and I'm hoping to play next season.

Yes, a good location can make all the difference. I work in Lower Manhattan, so taking lunch breaks walking around the city definitely makes cubicle life much easier. You should definitely take advantage of the dodgeball league. Becoming closer with you colleagues can also take the pressure off the modular office monotony. Unfortunately, my workplace doesn't have a similar outlet. It's very quiet and people tend to keep to themselves. Can't complain too much, though. My hourly excusions in the city keep me happy, as does the 3 hours of reading/napping time on the train.

Oh, and best of luck to Celery. Let's hope that the jobs come back with these minor showings of a recovery.
