Looking to shine up the plaintoe balmorals for a black tie event this weekend. Any suggestions? Can I take them to a cobbler and have them "spit shine" them?

I'd be worried about that unless you are on a first name basis with your cobbler+crew, or you mention ahead of time that you tip very well.

I'm in NYC -- any recommendations on someone reputable? Leather Spa perhaps?

Is Shoe Service Plus still on 55th between 5th and 6th? Or, the shoeshine guys at the E/F station at 53rd and 5th are great.

I think they may have been taken over by Leather Spa, but could be mistaken.

B. Nelson? You can also ask them to use Saphir products for the shine.

I used to use Angelo's (the one Spoo mentions) for my shoe shines, but started doing it myself. It also seems that the shines at Angelo's or most shoe shine places last as long as when you do it yourself. Maybe its two different methods, but the shoe shine places don't really bull the toe and heel quarters.

The shine will last a few wearings though.

Not sure if this's been asked before...

Is there a measurement chart of the 'trial' suits?

Maybe in a few months. For now there's the navy with pink dots pocket square.

The Shoe Snob has a good article about how to achieve a high shine. The key seems to be water, hence the traditional spit shine.

Echo of a question from a little upthread: any chance of the cornflower blue flora pocket square coming back to life? I bought it, loved it, and then gave it as a gift to a friend who wore it for his wedding. I already want it back :D
