Kent Wang - Affiliate thread - Page 82

For what it's worth, regarding the true color of those boots: I don't have those, but I do have the dark brown captoes, and in natural light (outside in the sun) they look almost identical to how they look in the photo. In less direct but still natural light the red hue is more subdued, but the photo is still quite close to the real deal. Of course, the way light bounces off suede is quite a bit different, and I don't know anything about photography or how the photos posted on Kent's website were shot. If I had to guess, I'd bet the boots on the floor photo was shot under fluorescent light, which (I anecdotally and with an untrained eye have noticed) distorts color quite a bit.

^ care to post some pics of the dark brown captoes in the wild? I've been seriously considering these but it would be nice to see some real life shots of these in action.

Has anyone gotten a tux made by Kent? I searched the thread but didn't see any pictures or mention of one.

+1 would really like to see some actual pics, considering the color differences above. Also, really surprised that there is almost no discussion at all about the shoes, since they seem like a really good deal considering the price, styling and construction
Also, can anyone comment on sizing? one guy was saying go down 1.5 size, someone else said TTS???

The photos on the website are accurate. I have a pretty good studio setup and check everything on a calibrated monitor. The dark brown suede is fairly dark. I wear them often and find the color to be very versatile.

The chukkas should be restocked in about six weeks. The initial batch had some sizing errors but that has been fixed now and you should just order your usual size in other brands.

As I said above, I have the brown captoes from Kent Wang (sorry, no pics), and I maintain they are true to color as depicted on Kent Wang's website.

Regarding sizing: I'd cast my vote for true to size (whatever that means). I went to Nordstrom and tried on some AE Park Avenues to get an idea of my size before ordering these. They only had a D width, and an 11 D felt a tiny bit big for me (lengthwise), but otherwise comfortable. I would have bought them had I been there to buy shoes, but the Kent Wang shoes are, to me, a much more attractive dress shoe. The 10.5 AE Park Ave. was perfect lengthwise but too tight in a D width. If I had to guess I'd bet I'm a 10.5 E in the AE Park Avenue. Anyways, I ordered an 11 in the brown captoes from Kent Wang, and they fit almost exactly like the AE 11 D - a tiny bit too much in length, but not enough to suggest they're really too big for me. I haven't worn them enough to find out if I'm right, but it's worth the chance - they really are such a great looking shoe (and I hope to find in the future a long-lasting one) that there was pretty much no way I was sending them back. Hope that helps.

After all this shoe talk I just realized that the dark brown bal is sold out in my size. I can try a 12.5 but that will most likely be too big. Any chance a size 12 will be restocked when the chukkas are restocked in 6 weeks?

Hi Kent when will the lavender polo be restocked in XL?

really like what i see from the suits biggrin.gif how does the trial suit work, do we have to tell Kent ahead of time or can we just buy from the webstore and take it from there?

So I've missed this discussion.

I noted in my post that the color was much closer to the pics that Kent has on his website. That is true. Like all suede, it reacts to the light differently than calfskin but my picture is deceptively light colored. It was just an iPhone pic I did quickly in the incandescent light of my kitchen.

Trust the pics on the site and the one that Kent just posted. I posted my pic mostly to show how excited I was about them and show the sole of the shoe, pictures of which I couldn't find elsewhere.

All benchgrade shoes should be restocked in about four weeks.

No, you don't have to let me know beforehand, though it would help me to know for my planning purposes. But you can decide after you receive it whether you want to keep it or return it for a custom one.

Cool thanks...I was hoping to get a pair to wear to a wedding I have in the first week of October. Hopefully I can pick up a pair before then.

Just received my first polo -- quality is excellent and fit is perfect everywhere besides the length (too short for my 6'4" self). Will be in touch shortly to place mtm order.
