How to spot a fake Loro Piana, Kiton or Brioni?

Thread Starter
Does anyone know how to spot fake Loro Piana, Kiton or Brioni clothes on Ebay or elsewhere? Are those brands often faked? I read a year or so ago that Loro Piana was going to sew metal ring bearing the Loro Piana logo and serial number into each of their cashmere products. Has anyone seen these before?

post pics here and we'll tell you.

I just won this Loro Piana Storm System Men's Italy Cashmere Jacket XL on Ebay for $516. Reassurance of its authenticity would be nice. I have been looking at several of these and they tend to go higher than other used clothing (I usually prefer to pay 15% of retail).
Thanks, Paul

Looks real, but my I'm rather untrained in LP.

I own 2 of that same jacket, and it looks real to me. The fabric, finish, and details on Loro Piana outerwear would be hard to counterfiet without it being obvious. A simple scarf or sweater would be a more likely target for copies.

What would you do if the consensus here was that it was fake:

I own two Loro Piana coats and tried on lots of them before buying the ones I own. This looks real to me. The labels, interior fabric pattern and the details that are visible in your pictures are all correct. Spectacular price by the way.

LP makes/has made many styles of cashmere coats but here are some details that seem to consistently be present. These are the kinds of things that I would expect to be skipped on many fakes:

- Buttons, snaps and zippers that say Loro Piana on them in small letters
- Suede details such as piping around pockets, under pocket flaps and behind the collar
- Velvet, velour or cotton/cashmere lining inside some of the pockets
- Numerous interior pockets
- Very high quality construction

yup, i think it's real too. almost bid on it, but i saw that the seller revised the listing to show that the chest would be too big for me.

Is very hard to spot fake luxury designer items by looking at their images. I myself love to wear top luxury brands like Brioni and Ermenegildo Zegna garments, but recently purchased few Brioni items on Ebay and got defrauded by Ebay sellers

viero-italia.  Just browse their knock-off items on Ebay and you will see how fake Brioni, fake Zilli and other fake top designers garments look like.

Wow, no kidding about being fake. The Brioni stuff doesn't even have the proper lining inside. It's just plain black. uhoh.gif

That Brioni stuff is incredibly badly faked. How is it that this guy has 100% positive feedback?

The seller is also selling this, which looks real to me... I wasn't even aware people bothered faking luxury men's clothing. I would think it takes a lot of effort to simulate the quality.

The Brioni tag and the made in Italy tags all look consistent with the ones I've handled. I vote real.
