SF Fantasy Baseball League 2009 - Page 48

The biggest fail of a prospect was Ben Mcdonald. He was some stud pitching prospect the O's had back in the day.

Yeah, Mussina blew right past him, that's why fans didn't notice that much. We've had bigger fails at 1st base. Two back to back with Pickering and Johnson. Mo Vaughn types with out the ability to hit for average. We didn't have a minor league player do anything for about 10 years or so.

Then came Jerry Hairson Jr., problems solved.

I got a lot of points with him last year when everyone else with Cincinnati was hurt.

I don't understand why he's not starting.

+1

He was money at multiple positions for weeks.

Half an hour away from my second draft of the year.

How did this draft go, Slim? Post your team if you want, I'm interested in seeing how you draft from the 10 spot.

I like the name, slim. Ex-Mercer Islander here.

Yah. My points league draft, I took Arod in the 2nd round. I agree with the temptation.

Although, i dont like leagues that are less than 12 teams. I enjoy finding the Denard Span and Ian Stewarts of the world>>> bottom of the barrel players in 12 team league.

14 team leagues put you in the Randy Winn territory.

Oh, and speaking of epic fails, where is Duanar Sanchez??

Randy Winn territory is tough. In those leagues you're rostering like a quarter of your team's players in the hopes they pan out. Great team of hitters, Slim, and your SPs are solid given your sick lineup. Looks like you think Marmol will close this year too?

Yah.. but he wasnt ever a top prospect. Ben Mcdonald was a top selection in the draft. The 2 biggest fails that come to mind are Matt Bush and Brien Taylor.

If we are talking NFL fails, that deserves an entire new thread.

PS.... "my" Jets are going to kick much ass with Rex Ryan as coach. If only they could have snagged Suggs or Ngata.

ok.. no more football talk.

yeah, it helps if you can make it to the Majors. Sometimes a big fail comes from a guy who wins a ROY. Ben Greive or Marty Cordova come to mind.

Yeah, I'm not really sold on my pitching, but I'm probably going to wait a few weeks and look at an Utley/Kinsler trade for another rotational ace. Theres also some decent value picks left on waivers as far as RP is concerned.

My overall strategy has always been to not give a crap about saves in the draft. Closers are really not worth it until the later rounds, imo.

Go get Paul Maholm. He's a good pitcher on a terrible team.
