focus on your breathing. make sure your exhaling enough while your face is in the water so you're ready to take in a breath when your face is out of the water. beyond that, it's just a matter of gutting through it. but that was my breakthrough and it got me from doing no freestyle in 20 years to a 1500m within about 3 months. you'll get there.

1250 m today, and yes^ after the first 100m improving on your distance takes mostly patience.

The most I can do right now without a breather is 50. I did six IMs today with fly as a componet. Brutal.

50 once is enough for me. I try to keep it as smooth as I can, but it's still a hectic stroke compared to freestyle. You have inspired me to include more fly in tonight's swim

that's pretty fast. I am now doing 1000 meters in maybe 30 minutes.

been swimming a bit recently due to the gym being closed and my back being a bit tweaked

swam the slowest 2k i've ever swum, but it felt like it was only two laps due to codeine/ diclofenac

Jesus Manton, that's pretty impressive. I used to swim competitively in high school and that would have been a decent workout even then. You must have been in the pool for an hour at least.

One hour exactly. I can usually do 2500 at least in an hour and can sometimes do 2700.

Don't worry; good days don't happen that often . If I start with a 1500, it's usually a smidgen under 25 mins. And I feel pretty tanked for the rest of the session. Most times I just start with a 1k.

Inspired by Manton, for the last 2 swims I cranked out 2x200 IMs in the middle, plus another 50 fly later on, and boy does it turn the whole session into hell. Going to work on fly kick drill for a while; I'm sure I look like a complete gumby.

If I die young, chances are it will be drowning from doing too much fly. Only 100 fly today.
