Any united fans around?

I am curious to see Aquilani finally start playing. If not for the 2 early injuries, I assume he would have come on against City?

I will say this much about Liverpool; they probably have the most hardcore, dedicated fans I've ever seen. Their club could be down by 11 goals and they'd still be singing You'll Never Walk Alone at the top of their lungs. Their form, on the other hand, is a different story.

Which will all be forgotten when Liverpool fails to qualify for Champions League.

Yup, Europa League here we come. It's time for Rafa to go. We wouldn't be in this predicament if we hadn't sold players like of Rise, Hypia, Crouch and Keane? Alonso was a certified loss because of Rafa's poor judgment in trying to off load him last year in order to bring in Barry and Aquilana was supposed to be fit to play in October! Gus Hiddink was suggested as a replacement on FFF last night, it might not be a bad move considering how dire things are.

The irony is that Liverpool can't afford to fire him.

With the exception of Torres, Gerrard, and possibly Reina, the Liverpool squad is full of dross. Need to completely overhaul the squad, and get in a new manager. The problem is the owners don't have lots of cash to spend, if you fire Benitez you're going to be paying him off for a while, and what manager are you going to bring in to right the ship? They've been a disgrace so far this season and I wouldn't be surprised to see them drop out of the Top 4.

It just hurts me to read that Benitez has left and is replaced by Roy Hodgson. I have nothing against Hodgson but I just think that replacing Benitez is not the solution to the problem. The obvious solution is more funding to acquire new talented players.

You have clearly never encountered a Newcastle United fan.

Benitez has spent over £220M, I hardly think funding was the issue.

Nice thread res. Interesting in choice in Hodson, don't think he's the right man for the job. I suspect it will be a similar situation to Sparky at Man City.
