Using this definition I want to have a poll on who is the wittiest poster on SF.

wit·ty (wt)
adj. wit·ti·er, wit·ti·est
1. Possessing or demonstrating wit in speech or writing; very clever and humorous.
2. Characterized by or having the nature of wit; funny or jocular: a witty saying.
3. Quick to discern and express amusing insights or relationships.
4. Entertainingly and strikingly clever or original in concept, design, or performance:

Of course, I will be first in the poll. I will be astounded ( and greatly gratified ) if I win. But I'd say it's a super long shot. I'm too dry, wordy, and always strive to be accurate. And sadly when I attempt to be witty, it's 50-50 that if falls flat.

I'm also going to nominate the usual suspects, Vox, RJman, Fuuma, Piobaire, Manton, FNB, T4age, aportnoy, teacher, romafan, and dakota rube.

And of course there is "others, please comment" which I hope will garner a lot of interest.

My vote goes to Vox. Though I wish he were more serious at times I give him the nod.

AAMOF: One of the most prominent and Big Time members of SF ( who I absolutely will not reveal, don't ask ) has compared Vox to Noel Coward ( some of you are too young to remember but Coward was a pretty witty guy ).

But forget Vox, let the battle begin.

Oy Vey, my first huge mistake.

Of course you are correct.

But I'm old and crazy.

Or perhaps it was a subconscious thing since I left the old hood to Dopey and he abandoned it.

But this is a Democracy. I hope you voted for him. He is worthy.

I think the poll conflates snark and wit. There are a lot of people on the list who are quite snarky, but I don't view that as the same as being witty.

Elucidate. Vote for someone, or vote for "other" and explain why.

I voted for Vox because a Big Timer had compared him to Noel Coward and I sort of agreed.

Who do you find witty and who is snarky? Vote and be counted.

That was a joke!

See, my humor falls flat often and I probably won't win the poll

Though you should note that as I type this I have one vote, which is second to Vox.

Why not put him as other and vote and comment! Remember, I'm older and not as smart as you.

As for now, I must do my volunteer work.

I'll be at Centerfolds on Richmond Ave. helping poor young waifs for a couple of hours. This is in memory of Craig Cullinan and his Uncle John. A billion dollars is a billion dollars, but saving a young waif is priceless. I'll be back later.

Please vote all. There's nothing wrong with voting other and explaining.
