Ralph Lauren Private Sale - Page 13

I couldn't bring myself to buy the plaintoe shell cordo Darltons for $300 when other Polo C&J can be had on eBay for 150-180. I was that close, though.

I did swing these two, though.

$15.30

$11.47

I wasn't too pleased with the $8 shipping charge...especially for only a box of knots and a pocket square...but I pulled the trigger anyways.

Thanks AlanC for finding the linen square and AmbulanceChaser for posting the code.

Smart choice. I also bought the white linen pocket square along with the red PL repp tie.

How are the Camdens and how does the 89 last compare, again, to the 888?

I love the toe and the vamp, but don't seem to like the blucher-ish instep. I was wondering if some people might prefer to get a pair of Mackays and then exchange them for a light brown pair in a store?

I, too, was this close to buying the same pocket square, but the $8 shipping convinced me otherwise.

Well, I struck out on the cordovan chukka boots. Today, I called the salesman in the Beverly Hills RL store who did my EG special order and asked _him_ to call the mansion in NY to ask about the chukkas. They don't have any size 12s left, so I'm pouting....

Well... I almost got a pair of cheap leather sneakers to keep as casual/driving shoes, but for those prices I might as well get some Piloti (even if they don't look as good).

Welcome!

You'll have to post pictures of your new shoes (on a rug) for us

My collection of shell cordovan penny loafers continues to increase (If I may be so bold, I like to consider myself the aportnoy of shell cordovan penny loafers ). With the Darlton, I'm up to six in various colors (the other five are Aldens), with one more possibly on the way.

Are the Darlton Penny Loafers lined?

I'm not sure, but I think so (this is in contrast to the Ben Silver version, which is unlined - the penny strap on the BS version is also different). The Polo website's not very descriptive regarding this detail, and I've never seen the shoes in person. If I remember, I will post about this when I receive the shoes. Whether or not the shoes were lined did not factor into my decision to purchase them, but I did note this lack of information on the website.

Are there non-shoe items on 40% off sale of note at the Mansion? I'm in the market for a suit.

What do you guys think of the Darlton non-wing oxford in cordovan?

You are freakin' kidding me. I called there repeatedly yesterday, and had two different people swear to me there were no Mackays in anything but black. Did you have them on hold or something?

Takes a bit of wear to break in, but it's a great shoe. Worth the sale price and more.

There are some comments elsewhere on this thread about the Darltons - I think we were talking about the wingtips, but these have the same double soles. They have significant weight.
