I have the most evil bastard of a wart

So I have had this wart on my hand for as long as I can remember (I am in my twenties now). It is about an inch long and doctors and dermatologists have told me that it's sort of a " birth mark wart". I have tried everything to get rid of this. Freezing, prescription creams, crazy shit like banana peels and nail polish.. I wouldn't even mind it so much if it wasn't on my hand and it cracks in the winter and shit because it's right on a joint.

Anyway eventually I read a lot about apple cider vinegar so I tried it and low and behold, the fucker fell right off. Unfortunately I didn't realize I had to keep applying it and the bastard reappeared about 3 weeks later in full. The worst part about the ACV treatment is that it is fucking PAINFUL. People report that it's painless but I think since mine is so big it's horrible. I mean this pain is so bad... I have been stabbed and I don't think it's surmountable to when I wake up in the middle of the night from the throb. I have tried it about 3 times but the pain was too unbearable to sleep.. and the skin gets very irritated where the wart isn't, and during the day the smell from the ACV is too strong to keep it on without getting a crazy stare from everyone.

So the point of my post is: is there anything else I should try? If not I am going to man up and keep it on during the day and take it off at night so that I can get some sleep and fuck what people think, and when it falls off im just going to keep applying until it's just smooth skin left and put vaseline on the surrounding skin to prevent irritation.

Any dermatologist should be able to surgically remove the wart, which is what they do when the wart is too large to warrant freeze treatments.

+1

What have the derms told you when you asked them to surgically remove it?

I have inquired, and was told it would likely be considered cosmetic and I would have to foot a bill... which I can't afford.

i had probably a 1/8inch thick wart on the inside of my thumb where it bends at the knuckle, cut that sucker out with a nail clipper digging into it. i was a litte bitch right up until i cut deep enough to hit blood, after that it was not a problem to keep going until all the nasty skin was cut out. wart stopped growing after that, my mother told me i wasn't removing enough of it in the past so it just grew and got worse until she told me to cut deeper. no scarring which was lucky

it was awful though :P

If its really that big, get a derm or someone to surgically remove it. you gotta get under the wart to remove it

Oh God please do not remove this wart by yourself with dirty nail clippers.

An inch long? Jesus. Don't live with that thing. Think of how much time you have spent embarrassed and pained by this. You say you have tried freezing, but was that home freezing or dermatologist freezing? Try the latter if you haven't. I have frozen my own and had them frozen. It helped to get really fucking drunk and hold that freezer shit there an extra 15 second to get to the core.

I had once read duct tape discs could zap warts.

I haven't seen very good results with OTC freezing products-- they usually end up just killing it at surface level and it's ends up growing back up in some shape or form. I've had very good luck using apple cider vinegar, I believe it took 2-3 days smelling like vinegar to completely kill the wart for good. If you wrap around it well during the day, and cover it up with clothing it shouldn't smell that bad. The stuff had some pain associated with it, but in a good way. The trick is to let it die naturally, first the wart will turn white and get huge and puffy, then it will start shrinking and turning black-- Do not pick at it at this point! Keep applying ACV for another day until not only is the wart dead at surface layer but it will create a big crater.

Yeah, sterilize them first.

Why did you put up with it for so long? Do you know how gross it looks? I cant even imagine an inch long. Just saying...

Good luck

As a child, I had a wart on my left thumb that got out of control. I would say it got between .25 and .5 inches long, which is pretty large when you consider my age. I went through several excruciating sessions with a skin doctor where he froze the wart. The wart never got any smaller, so I'm not sure why my mom kept having me go back to him.

After maybe a year and a half, it just started to crumble on its own to the point where I was able to rid myself of the remainder by using those over-the-counter discs. You can't see where I had the wart now, but the skin is still slightly embossed.

See this was my issue. When I could tell I could get it pulled off I would instead of just continuing to apply and waiting for it to do it alone. When the top layer came off it was too painful to continue.

I know. I hate it. But I have become very good at hiding it.

I had a big wart on my hand as a child also. The doctor froze it a couple times, but it kept coming back. One day after soccer practice, when I was digging away at it with my dirty fingernails, I somehow yanked out the whole thing from the core. It hurt like bloody hell and was disgusting to behold, but it never grew back after that. Luckily I did not get any infection from my gruesome auto-operation.

I got a fairly large one out of nowhere about a year back. Got a buddy, got a scalpel blade, and got nice and drunk. He cut it flat, and then I took a nail file to it every morning and evening, keeping it flat, so that you couldn't tell that it was there. Eventually it just quit growing back.

It wasn't an inch long though, so carefully about any sort of permanent damage that might be involved there.

Maybe you need the opinion of a second dermatologist. Maybe you can find someone who is able to correctly bill your insurance in a way that they will pay for surgery. I'm sure there is a solution to your issue.

I've always told myself that if I end up with weird bumps, moles, or warts that I am going to get them handled. People who walk around with that stuff for years blow my mind. If it costs you a grand to get it surgically removed, I'd consider it worth it. It sounds like a lot of money, but it's only a fraction of what you spend on food or anything else in a year. A wart vs two nice pairs of boots.
