Green Lantern never really seemed that tough (although I never really followed the comic). This got me thinking, what are the cool superheroes / villians? I think spiderman is my favorite. Anyone read or follow comics? I only follow them minimally.
check out the Emerald Dawn series. GL as Parallax basically takes over the Universe before he comes to his senses (with some righteous beatdowns from other GLs, Superman, and the Justice League). Still, they all nearly lost. See, http://www.dcuguide.com/who.php?name=greenlantern2

As for cool superheroes, Daredevil was my favorite for years (Damn you, Ben Affleck!), the Dark Knight version of Batman, Wolverine, the Thing, Green Lantern (despite the pusssy comment), and Luke Cage and Iron Fist. Villians begin and end pretty much with Dr. Doom, but Apocalyspe (X-Men Series) is bad-assed, as well as Galactus (and his hearld, the Silver Surfer). Let's not forget Bullseye. Namor, the Sub-Mariner is bad and good -- depends on which day you catch him. I also like Deadpool.

No, I'm not involved in the mainstream at all anymore. My only brush with big-name fame was with Invaders. I actually believe I get a mention from Joe Quesada at SD Comic-Con 2003. He was talking about Epic books, and mentioned how my book got scooped up from Epic and was put on the Marvel Knights rotation. It was pretty fun while it lasted. I got to know Mark Millar and Warren Ellis very well. I even got a Christmas card from Kevin Smith that year. I'm only a 21 year old country boy so this stuff still makes me giggle like a little school girl.

I do have a graphic novel coming out this Fall/Winter (hope to God). I can't talk about it yet. It's for a great-big indie publishing house and is pretty ambitious work. I also have a comic strip in the works that's going to appear regularly in a very prolific magazine and hopefully, maybe in the newspaper that raked in the most Pulitzers last go 'round (nudge).

If you haven't seen it already, pick up some copies of Ellis' Nextwave for Marvel. It may be the most fun comic book ever. EVER.

I've heard him talk about the book but I haven't picked of a traditional comic in at least over a year. I'll have to swing by the local shop and see what they have. He's pretty excited about it so it must be something special.

And ddml that is seriously the coolest comic shirt I've ever seen! Awesomeness.

Reminds me of a comic series I used to have, where A mysterious methodone clinic is turning out cult members. Spider Man starts to investigate and runs into Dr. Strange who is battling the cult itself, who are trying to ressurect Set. They team up and kick Set's ass. It ruled. I can't remember any real details about the series... I was like nine last time I read it.

I should take a pic of myself in my Doctor Doom hat, heh.

YES! That friggin rules! It was such a complicated storyline its a miracle that either one of us remember anything about it. I think I bought like every single one of those stinkin cross-over books. I suppose that was the point.

Way back in 1939's Marvel Comics #1, the very first Sub-Mariner story promised him "on his way to further adventures in his crusade against white men!"

Three great superhero comics:

1. A Superman story from the 1950s in which two mobsters try to trick Superman into blowing up Metropolis. Each one shakes hands with him, one shaking with his right and the other with his left, to coat his hands with highly combustible chemicals. The point is that when Superman claps his hands at a parade, he'll be responsible for killing millions. (What the mobsters hope to gain from this, I don't remember.) As a small child, I thought this plot was genius.
2. A Batman story in which our hero is captured by Two-Face and can escape only by turning himself into a Two-Face. The cover is spectacular -- his face is half cowl and half disfigured. And how he does it is pretty clever.
3. A story of the Earth-2 Batman recounting how he fell in love with Catwoman. It's called "The Diary of Bruce Wayne," if I remember correctly, and it's included in the "Greatest Batman Stories Ever Told" trade paperback.

Beyond these single-issue stories, "Kingdom Come" is pretty great.

batman vs. joker and one of the best when joker kills robin #2 "death in the family",doom,spidey vs. venom,magneto,silver surfer now that would be a co ol movie all the outer space characters. and of course the red skull, btw did anybody see that at movie of captain america we need a remake!

My favorite Batman run was the Alan Grant/John Wagner era. I especially liked The Mud Pack vs. The Batman and Looker. IMMSMC there was a scene in one of them where they strap him down in a theater and make him watch the Joker kill (the original?) Robin over and over again with his eyes taped open hoping to drive him insane. I'm not sure if the Ludwig Van was being played or not.
