world cup - Page 66

His public comments in the last day or two make that seem unlikely. Then again, it wouldn't be the first time somebody bs'd the press about their purported lack of interest in a job to try to keep things low-key until an actual deal was worked out.

Witness Fabio Capello's infamous "I would never coach Juve" speech...

Hey Romafan,I bet you are devastated by Lazios relegation to Serie B.
On a serious note there could be some excellent players up for sale,Man Utd would gladly take Zambrotta and Cannavaro off Juve's hands.

Yes, devastated And Di Caio has just signed for a 4th division team! Seriously, the Roman derby is one of the most year's anticipated matches - we will miss our Burini cousins as they descend to the depths of Serie B for the 11th(?) time. Juve's drop is historic in that it leaves only a single team, Inter Milan, who has never left Serie A, and robs the Juve/Inter fixture ('Derby of Italy') of some of its traditional significance. It will be interesting to see where people end up. I think Alex Del P. will remain a zebra....

For the italians who followed the case closely, is it fair that it's only berlusconi's team (AC Milan) which miraculously avoided relagation or am I imagining things? !luc

Luc,from what has been reported in the UK it seemed that the allegations against Milan were less serious and more difficult to prove.Furthermore it seems it was one man that was implicated who Milan say was acting without the knowledge of anyone else at the club.Dont know if this is true but thats what I have heard.

Even though my Fiorentina has been relegated, to see Juve in B with -30 pts is a corker for me, I hope they stay there forever and hopefully Italy will not raise another generation of "Gobbacci" that have spread throughout Italy like a cancer.

That 30 point deficit is a killer--that does mean they start next season with -30 points right? I would think if they kept their squad they could finish in the top two of Serie B couldn't they? But those 30 points will drop them way down. That's 10 wins down the drain. So even if they won every single game they'll get, what, 87 pts max. And they won't win them all.

can someone tell me why inter has not been given last season's scudetto?

He's the man of the match

I know Moratti is clamouring for it. For long-suffering Inter fans (last scudetto '88-'89), the default nature of the title might be a little humiliating - it's not as if they were really in contention for the shield...

On the bright side, they will be contenders this year and have signed WC hero Fabio Grosso!

i've been an interista since '90. and if we are awarded the scudetto, i would find nothing humiliating in it. we played fair and square, the others did not. there was a member here named MPS, whose signature used to read: "play by the rules, or the game means nothing."

as far as i'm concerned, inter are the true champs.
