world cup - Page 42

Yay!

Not only did Zidane score an easy goal but I got to watch Cristiano Ronaldo cry after the game. Definitely my favorite match of the tournament, thus far.

And even though France isn't playing at their highest level, Italy has shown me nothing thus far besides some impressive dives. We'll see...

You obviously haven't been watching the games carefully but parroting what you read on the this thread instead.

You seem rather...disconsonant. Is that the word I want? Are you feeling contrariant today? What I'm trying to say chap, is that you don't seem to be very nice.

Personally, I loved watching C. Ronaldo cry. He can go on crying all night for all I care.

I could care less about Ronaldo but to say that Italy has shown nothing but whiny diving is simply disingenuous. If you want to dish it out then.....

Oh, you're still mad about that. You're really going to have to get over it. But two points:

1. What exactly am I supposed to "take"? I (and others) say Italy is prone to diving which you take as me/us "dishing it out so you do the same in what form exactly? You haven't said anything other than to disagree with the charge of cheating (btw, in today's paper was this headline stating that Juve's lawyer said that demotion to Serie B would be "acceptable". Nah, no one in Italy cheats.) For there to be something for us to "take" would require you to say something on the same lines.

2. The phrase (for everyone's info since it drives me up a wall, is "could not care less." If you could care less that means you do care to some degree. If you have utter apathy then it would not be possible for you to care less. Argh.

By the way, you never responded to my other post asking exactly what I had said proved your point that I am an "ignorant poster" (see posts #590 and 591).

Juve and other teams have been caught and they will be punished. This is a game fixing scandal conducted by the team management to influence the referees, no players have been implicated, so I don't think this makes the actual Italian footballers cheats. To be precise the top four finishers were not indicted. Inter who finshed third has not been indicted.
If you never heard of any of the players I mentioned then I may actually have have a point, furthermore, I didn't know it was up to you to decide which world cup victories could be counted and which were worthless it is news to me that Italy has now only one valid world cup title. You state that nobody mentions Uruguay anymore, that is probably because they do not regularly qualify anymore for the world cup finals and when they do they do not advance very far.

The French sportscasters are hilarious. If they flash to a good looking girl in the stands they are all like : "Ooo la la..." etc etc.... They get all excited. Fucking comedy!

Since this is Style Forum, who thinks Zidane looks more stylish and younger since he shaved his head?
For years he cultivated the mad monk look which I thought was ridiculous.
Also Cambiasso, why does he try to comb hair from his arse to cover his bald bits?As you can tell this is my pet hate,if you hair is going face facts and shave it!

i am not entirely happy that france and italy made it to the final, but it is certainly true that some degree of luck has to bear on a team to get them through the cup. france were not all that impressive today, but they got past spain and brazil in fairly convincing fashion. on the other hand, italy were gifted a berth past australia on a penalty call. i honestly thought australia were going to win. i think many of the "contenders" for this cup failed to show or were quickly eliminated due to the way the brackets worked out. that said, i think italy will take the final.

I agree wholeheartedly, there has been no stand out team, and in my mind every stand out player has been a defender rather than a "flair" player.

No need to mention Zidane then, or Pirlo.
