Non Allergenic Cat

Does anyone know where i can get a non allergenic cat. I live near NYC and i am moderately allergic and my girl friend wants to get one. Any information/advise would help.

actually you are allergic to proteines of cats, so even the smallest dander will cause problems with your immune system. your only help is a hyposensitization and cleaning your house very regularly. if you don't you will sooner or later need cortisone and develop many more allergies ..

You can get hypoallergenic cats, but they are extremely expensive....

Yeah, it is weird. Lots of cat lovers that are allergic though.

BTW, have you considered using allerpet? It inactivates the allergen that most people are sensitive you. You have to wipe your cat down with it every few days though....
