I need to move a 15GB file from Mac to PC: HELP!

So, I download movie files with my Mac, but my HP laptop has the HDMI connector I need to connect a computer to my TV so I can watch the downloaded movies. Theoretically the answer is to use a portable HD with FAT32. However, FAT32 has a 4GB file size limit .

How can I move the movie files from Mac OS to Win Vista?

Pretty sure 7zip or most other file compression programs can split files up into multiple zip or rar files to sidestep the filesize limit. edit: just checked. it can. have fun.

Wtf are you downloading that's 15GB? Blu-ray rips? Are people even uploading those yet? You're lucky your isp doesn't throttle you. Second question, DVDs are usually layed out with the video in many smaller files instead of one big file. So again, what are you downloading? Anyway, why don't you convert the filesystem on your portable HD to NTFS? Then you can copy it as a single file. IF you use the portable HD mostly for big files, chose a large cluster size.

a quick google shows there are programs that will give you write support to NTFS volumes on a mac.

Email it to yourself via your GMail account. Then download on your PC.

Really? Wow, I thought their whole schtick was "more storage and attachment size than you'd ever need".

In that case, the OP can enable the ssh daemon on Mac, then use Putty on the Windows box to pull the files over via scp. Or install and/or configure rsyncd on the Mac and use the rsync client on the PC. Or, install and configure httpd/lighttpd/etc. on the Mac and pull the files over HTTP. Also, doesn't Mac have built-in CIFS/SMB support as well? In that case, one can just use Windows file sharing to transfer the files.

Not exactly the answer, but I think Apple TV is good for playing all those movies on your TV. Transfer the files from the Mac to Apple TV (can do it wireless), and save space on your computer HD as well.

Mac answer: If you don't have an HDMI connector on your Mac, you don't really need one. Just buy whatever dongle or wireless device Apple is selling to solve this problem. Windows Answer: Who still uses FAT32?!?!?! Jeezus. Can you use an iPod or iPhone as a flash drive yet?
