yoox sizing

I've bought a few rather unknown branded blazers on yoox such as Piombo. I'm a 36s and I bought euro 48 and it was still a bit small. However when I bought a 3 button Black Label Armani suit at a euro 48, it was definitely a normal 38R. So my question is, are mainstream brands on yoox that are also made in the US generally sized to Americans? I thought that since the majority of the stuff on yoox is from europe it would be slimmer and shorter. I'm about to take a chance on another black label suit (this time 2 buttons..crosses fingers), but It'd be nice to know before I blow another $6 on return shipping.

I have 4 or 5 Piombo jackets from Yoox and they are very slim fitted indeed. The brand is available in many shops in Europe, so I could try it before ordering from Yoox. I bought here on SF a Tonello jacket coming from Yoox, which is one size bigger than what I usually wear, and still fits me a bit snug.

So you'd better be familiar with the brands you order from Yoox. Search on google, ebay or SF for measurements of similar models from the brand. Yoox are not good at answering emails about sizing.

Thanks for the advice. I was thinking though that Armani would make stuff larger for America but then have slimmer shorter stuff for the European market. I'd read on the forum that other brands (like caruso and cantarelli) are sacks in America but slim suits in Europe. So I assumed something similar for the more mainstream brands.

You're confusing slim with fitted. Slim jackets tend to have very narrow shoulders. You'll only fit these if your shoulders are also narrow.

When you say the 48 you bought was small was it small in the chest?

It was somewhat of both, but not too bad. Mainly it was the length. The length in the other brands was perfect! I was hoping I could depend on yoox for all my short-sized needs. But the Armani was just too long.

yoox is a total crapshoot. i only buy brands from there that i am 100% familiar with the sizing (meaning i own multiple items from that maker), and even then it's a crapshoot.

they give you nothing except the tagged size (and sometimes they even send you the wrong one) and their customer service won't be able to give you measurements because the clothes are in some warehouse that might be around the world

The current trend is to very short skirts. You can usually tell from fit pictures or even flat shots how short the skirt is going to be. Armani has his own style.
