Please critique my RLBL Jacket.

This is a cross-post from the SW&D forum, thought I could use youse guyses' expertise. This is a 42R, some questions: Are the shoulders too big or is this marginal? Also, could I add some waist suppression without pulling elsewhere? Any input is welcomed....just hoping the tailor can make this a good fit for me. And please ignore the sleeves, I rolled them up during the photo shoot; I know they need to be shortened.

Judging from the photos, the sleeves seem to be a hair too wide. I'm not sure if it would warrant a size drop because it seems to fit well enough at the torso. It would be clearer if you had dropped your arms naturally on the first pic. There's also something majorly wrong with the sleeve pitch.

Possible. If this is the case then he shouldnt be wearing RLBL.... Yes, even if it is style forum approved and found it for a great price.

Chest looks a bit tight. Sleeves could be rotated back. There's ripple action on the back under the collar. Vents seem to be pulling slightly.

There seems to be debate on whether this jacket is too big or too tight? I am a tough case to crack. This feedback will directly result in the sale of this suit or an attempt to fix it. Leaning toward the former unfortunately.

Be careful about saying that you may sell - any 42r's will jump up the critiques.... That said, are you standing naturally in the photos? If you are, it's probably time to sell it, unfortunately. Shoulders look too big, vents make it look too tight. When one thing is too big and another's too tight (especially when one of them is the shoulders) there's generally not much that can be done.

No attitude here. Just a friendly suggestion.

I'm currently doing the same and found that it helps me fit into suits much more easily.

I appreciate the caveat incastoutcast, and that seems like a very sound assessment of my situation. I have to sell this thing it appears. Funny thing is my roommate thinks it fits like a dream, but I can't rest knowing it's not really up to a trained eye's standard. This stuff isn't rocket science but for me it almost is! I hate hate hate to part with RLBL fabric. What a product. That said who wants a brand new 42R save some alterations on the pants (seat brought in, hemmed to 30 inches)?

Sad to hear it has to go garmis. I know all about other people thinking something fits like a dream. I think I hate it when people compliment me on something I know is flawed more than I hate people noticing the flaws. Here's to you finding something even better.

It's not a question of whether the jacket is "too big" or "too small" on the whole. The just just plain does not fit your body proportions.

The shoulders are too wide, and the sides of the torso are a bit too tight.

You don't have particularly broad shoulders and you waist is not particularly slim. You just don't have the correct "drop." Sorry to break it to you. Don't feel bad, though. The RLBL cut is very radical.

If you want a good slim cut suit with a more forgiving sihlouette, I'd go for Theory (on the low end) or Hickey (on the high end).
