Is that a red snapper? It looks great. That's a fair price for the Nero D'Avola. Speaking of which, I think I'm going to crack a "Hugonis" 50/50 Nero/cab blend from Tenuta Rapitala tomorrow night if I decide on red meat. I can't make any garuntees though since I had osso bucco tonight and have really been craving a whole roasted branzino all week. Decisions, decisions.
I would have normally passed it too, but it was the only Vermentino left in the store (5 total) that I hadn't tried in the past. So I gave it a shot and it was better than the others from the store (including Costamolino and Don Giovanni, not including GaT from KD). Pleasantly surprised. They have a $12 vernaccia that I've been meaning to try, maybe tomorrow night. yes, red snapper, and yes it was excellent. And all of that liquid on the plate? yeah, a cup of that vermentino. I was thrilled that it came out so well, even the eyes were delicious. I'm going out fish shopping tomorrow, my Saturday tradition. Mr. Wright has (or had) Hugonis, but it was like $45. Expensive compared to many '04 Brunellos. Be sure to let me know how it is, I'll be jealous anyways because you'll undoubtedly have a better dinner than I (odds are I'll have to go into the office for a good part of the day). Send me the leftovers. Oh, and Branzino is awesome. One of my favorite white fishes. They just started carrying it at whole foods, score. And for the record, doing nothing tonight besides watching the hockey game and killing the wine was a marvelous idea.
