Google images is showing up a bunch of loafers with totally disparate elements--high vamp, low vamp; leather sole, rubber sole; built up heel, flat. All they seem to have in common is moccasin closures for the toe:

I think it is generally a high smooth vamp and moc toe with little detailing.

One of my favorite shoe styles. Martegani has what's imo the best version of them. My next shoe purchase will probably be one in shell through Ron. Lined or unlined? Still not sure. They'd replace my old LL Bean camp mocs, or allow them to survive another 20 yrs.

I have a pair in scotch grain shell from Ron. It's my first pair of Venetian loafers. I like them a lot.
