I was just thinking "Well, he has to work on his leg power" when he landed that quick and nicely placed kick. Bravo to him!

I love the reaction of your buddy. He's positively euphoric. He isn't exactly acting like he's been there before, but I'll let it slide, given that he hasn't been there before.

A kick to the head will do it every time.

That was interesting to see! It really makes you appreciate how hard the kicks and punches are in a professional match. It looked like those guys were barely swinging / hitting in comparison to the force used by the pros.

Of course, no disrespect intended towards your friend. I certainly wouldn't fight him!

How long has he been training for? Was it also the other guy's first fight? Does he now go onto another fight with someone else, or was this a one-time thing through his training school?

He did karate when we were kids but stopped for a long time. I think he's been training for martial arts again for about a year but has always been pretty athletic. He's a scary SOB. I went on a long road trip with him once and we got in a verbal fight toward the end as we were just sick of each other. He threatened to hit me and I had to go into calming/talking down mode to avoid getting knocked out. Anyway he figures he might have a future in this stuff so looks like he's going to keep going.
