Yes, I got an e-mail about it a couple of days ago.

Rather odd, considering that LE spent the last couple of years running the Canvas sub-brand down and letting it fade into obscurity. I thought that was a pity as I had a few polo shirts and pairs of chino shorts from Canvas that fit well and lasted for years.

They seem to have increased their prices for the Canvas range, too.

New logos are so terrible. Wow. Trying to compete with J.Crew?

I don't think anybody is trying to emulate or compete with J Crew. It looks like from a business perspective J Crew is doing a terrible job. I think the prices are a little worse than J Crew, but the quality is likely going to be a little bit better. I am a bit upset that they didn't add tall sizes.

Didn't see anything I'd remotely even consider buying. Not at those prices. I stocked up on the 608 fit pants as they were clearing out the old stock.

How was the fit?
I remember people complaining they had a terrible fit.

Like any brand, if it fit you, great. For a slim, athletic build, the pants were spot on. I thought the shirts were well made and had nice fabric, but the collars were stingy and the waist was a little blousy. But everything was dirt cheap -- IMO most of the best part of Canvas has migrated to the main line "tailored fit."

NB: LE is definitely plebe level clothing, (in reference to style/trendiness) mostly suitable for bizcash offices. But that's what I work in...if you size it right I think it still represents a good deal for basics.

The old Canvas had a lot of nice madras shirts. That's what I miss most. Collars still look stingy, unfortunately. That's what sells to the yutes.

The shirts were always too short for my tall body. I do remember finding some nice pants and accessories in the beginning. The recession era clearance events were fantastic. I remember buying stuff like leather gloves and belts for <$10. The women's clearance section was epic. The wife still has leather and suede boots that we bought for next to nothing. I remember them advertising it as an end of season clearance event of 75% off and then there was always a code in which you could take an extra 40% off of the already reduced prices.

My favorite ever pair of corduroy pants were from Canvas...and I still have 2 pairs of chino pants and a few shirts from them that I wear regularly.

But my favorite thing about Canvas was the unsustainably cheap sale prices they offered...doubt that will come back.
