Seriously attractive shoe, though some might say it has a personality conflict being a bal in such a daring color.

Can the suede be brushed back to normal? I don't see the AE's as much of a tremendous value as others, since at you're getting basically handgrades at $160 w/ the other RL offereings. I recieved the exact same benton last week. While I've yet to wear it, I really like it. I also own the benton in the dark brown color. It's a very comfortable, substantial shoe, and much more refined than any of my AE's. FWIW my Tellman's (http://www.styleforum.net/attachment...1&d=1162437185 - this is a stock photo, not mine) in what I think is the same color, have developed a seriously nice patina. So, I would keep the Benton's, wear doesn't look very serious and for price you paid still a blowout deal. The AE's I could take em or leave em.

I think that some of the marks would come out, but not all of them. They're going back to Endless. I think you're right--it's not such a tremendous bargain. Also, the fit was not spectacular.

The Tellman do age nicely. I have a pair that's seen a ton of wear in the past six months, and they've held up well. I thought the Benton would be offer me a shoe that can be rotated with the Tellman for longevity's sake. While they would certainly get marked as I wear them, I don't know. Given the price, it's not a big deal, but I'm still not sure.

I would definitely keep the Benton over the Mora. The Benton's sole seems to have a little wear but the Mora's suede looks fine to me, I'm just not a big fan of the captoe double-monk. And if you're keeping the Sheldon, that's a much nicer monkstrap.

If you return the Benton, there is a good chance it will show up on eBay via GVH and may even end up fetching more than what you paid.

If I had to send either the Benton or the Mora back, it would be the Mora, as much as I like the shoe. If it's a size 9, you can easily replace it off eBay, probably for less than the endless.com sale price. I've seen suede Moras in size 9 go unsold for $120 or so lately. Suede seems to do very poorly on the Bay in general.

I guess one question is how often you wear your Tellmans. I see your point about longevity, but is your money best spent buying something so similar?

If you want to get rid of the Sheldon, give me a shout.

nice shoes. that is the underbellly of a crocodile correct?
Not just croc, but Porosus....best of the best - and this is small size, probably 25cm skins.....VERY expensive.

I was under the impression alligator always had the irrgular scale pattern
The skin apparently has an umblical scar, however yes, they are supposed to be less symmetrical than crocodile.
Not necessarily.....it's more what size skins you are working with.

The seams look somewhat thicker than normal. But on the side shot, the upper leather and seam don't seem particularly thick. It's weird... I can't figure it out.

I am German as well, and IMHO these shoes lack any sense of asthetics. Other than that the brass nailing causes corrosion - just take a look at those pictures and see for yourself - http://www.newsaboutshoes.de/showthr...=2125#post2125
