Maybe if they added another couple of rows of prominent stitching between the apron and the welt I'd like it.

Henry Maxwell, with nice Tuczek toe:

I admit it, the Maxwells are RTW for the Japanese market. They're Grenson Masterpieces, from Bennies. Still, best chisel toe I've ever seen in RTW.

Dimitri Gomez:

Note lack of any rear seam:

He's certainly modest -- look at the name inside -- even though he is enormously proud of his work:

I'd say the insole markings are probably more a function of what his contract says than his own modesty. My dad always said: you get what you negotiate, not what you deserve.

Very nice RJ, these monks are delicious... Did you ask for Dimitri's name inside instead of C&J ? Maybe you can choose...

You've been busy RJ...I'm lovin' the toe on the Maxwell, too.

While possibly true, I have noticed that many really good bespoke makers put little to no marking on their goods. My guess is that he is now well known enough in his business to renegotiate, and he simply has no interest.

Those Gomez monks are perfect. That broguing is such a distinct yet understated touch on an otherwise common shoe model.

Did Artioli make all the shoes for VR back in the day? Or did VR contract the work to other shoemakers? I had several pairs and they were all good quality.
Until seeing the photo below in ebay today , I had no ideal who made VR.
