Dude must've been drunk when he did that, really no other reason. Otoh, Paul Smith do have a Cutter suede brogue that looks worn at the toes and heel counter, so perhaps he was trying to get the same effect...

Why is fritzl the only one talking about sole edge dressing?

I feel like a rookie, because I don't think I understand that.

Another question: do you use anything to treat the soles (the bottoms) of your shoes? I've tried lin seed oil in the past, but I don't have a clue if it actually works. (Serious question, fritzl.)

As for treating soles, perhaps some Montana Pitch-Blend, as shown on Leffot's blog?

serious answer: i use gutra(linked it above) it works for me. probably, because i trust in it.

seed oil cannot be wrong, because there are no aggressive ingredients in it.

back to the edges, hehe.

i rub the wax with meinem handballen, this is most effective. after that i apply the "gutra" with a tooth brush. i also have a special brush(cost € 4), so it is up to you.

imo this will work, but it would be a hassle for us europeans to get a hold of it.

Perhaps you should follow your own advice. Dude applied some wax polish to the toes and heel counters (on purpose). Had nothing to do with sole edge dressing staining the suede. In fact, I don't think PG ever mentioned anything about edge dressing. Just sayin.

Danke sehr, fritzl. I use cotton gloves for everything: for the edges, but also for applying polish or wax and for shining the shoe after the applying.
