You can either get some brown polish and rub that out in 10 min or you can waste $20 and 2 weeks trying to return them.

Thanks. I've never polished a shoe (all I own are canvas and suede), so I wasn't sure what polish could or couldn't do to cover up such things.

That's pretty unfortunate. If you were buying them in person, and the sales person handed these to you, you should definitely ask for a different pair, sans blemishes. But this situation is a little different with Gilt, the shoes that they were selling were apparently all that was left from their actual brick and motor store, so the likelihood of blemishes and imperfections is far higher than when you buy full retail from a large stock. You can probably attempt to get a refund, rather than credit for the store, but I'm not sure how successful that would be.

It looks like the blemish won't cause you too much trouble, and can probably be removed completely-so it really comes down to the question "are you happy with the shoes for the price you paid". If you aren't-then attempt to get a refund.

I'm certain I've seen a piped seersucker jacket in the collection of the French Alan Flusser, Marc Guyot. Of course, the seersucker and the piping were pink, because the French aren't afraid of accusations of teh ****.

Thanks, I love them. Did you get to try on a pair to find your size? I found that I'm a US 12, and a UK 11, one size down. I also find them a little wider than my AE's, which is good cause my AE's are a tiny bit narrow.

I'm now contemplating my next Plal.com order, probably Clifford's in Tan and Savile in Dark Brown.

if you don't mind me asking, how much was shipping+customs to the US from plal.com (i'm assuming you're in the US) plal.com seems substantially cheaper than other sources by quite a margin for c&j [edit] didn't realize plal had their own forum with FAQ....looks like free airmail shipping when purchasing handgrades?

Yeah they are the best place to get C&J by far. Both pairs of Handgrades plus shoe trees came to $1166 which included tax. I think retail on the Weymouth and Belgrave is around $750 each before tax and without shoe trees, I think I saved around $600. You can't beat the price. Also the service was great, and there policy is on your first order if the shoes don't fit you right you can send them back and they'll send you the right size free. So if you can't try them on in a store order 1 size down from your US size and if they are too loose or tight adjust accordingly.

My metric is down 1/2 size and up one letter. From US 9D to 8.5E. But that is just me, your mileage may vary.

Wow, those are amazing. Beautiful. I love the austere brogue with medallion.
