Love those Canalis. Went to the Canali boutique in Delhi, India for those around 2 months back but they were sold out.

LOL, thanks. I was just under the apparently wrong impression that I could not order direct from Vass.

They are actually a beautiful light tan colour with fabulous calf leather. Pix to follow of this major vintage event on SF.
Is Crosby Square really famous and great? Yours look beatiful. And I have a pair that are very nice. But when I got them (never worn, from a thrift store), I searched here, Ask Andy, and on Google and found virtually nothing on them. I'm not enamored with the quality of my pair due to the canvas lining and plastic heels (only noticeable once I'd worn down the rubber bottom). So I wouldn't say they're in the same range as vintage Florsheims or Nettletons, for example.

Somehow I doubt they were using plastic heels 70 years ago, sounds like your pair are of considerably more recent vintage.

Quite like the AE Stratton and Redding - any closeups of those?

Could be true, but I have no idea if they used plastic heels 70 yrs ago. Seems like it might have been available. Where do you get the number 70? Did the company go under in the 30's? In any case, I think you're right that mine are newer than that. I'd put them in the 50s. But I don't know. They're definitely pretty old (crumbling linings, etc.). My only sure basis for comparison of age are a pair of Florsheims I have from my grandfather. My mom says they are from the 60's.

Maybe they are the very latest before the firm demised in the 80s...

+1. VR is the undisputed king of Vass.

Can't really tell from the pics but it looks like this one doesn't have a seamless heel, or am I wrong?

They don't have seamless heel, I didn't specify that feature when I ordered. It should be relatively easy for them to do for this model.
