can a tailor raise the armholes of a jacket, reducing the size of the armholes?

(i hope that's clear)

That's a rather complex operation. Jackets should have extra cloth tucked away, when taken apart, to facilitate the alteration.

Thanks...everyone that I've spoken to has (without seeing the jacket) told me that the operation is impossible. Do you know how much it would cost, assuming a tailor was able to do it?

Wouldn't that leave old stitching holes around the new armpit?

For wool, is usually is not a problem.
