My Thinkpad T42 went kaput a few months ago due to onboard graphics problem. So, instead of spending too much money for a replacement mobo (or spending at least twice as much for an X300), I took the opportunity to get what I always wanted to get. After some ordering issues, this sweet little lappy came to me a few days ago (pic not mine, but it's the exact same one). It's an X61s with a 1.6Ghz C2D, 160GB 7200 HD, 4GB of PC6400 RAM, fingerprint reader, bluetooth, XP Pro (& Vista, too), an 8-cell battery (which should give me 5-6 hours of web and light processing work). Everything weighs in at under 3.5lbs. Sweeet!!!!

Now I'm not sure what to do with my T42. God rests her sweet little soul, she has served me well through law school, law school exams, bar study, and a bar exam--all without a single glitch.

I love the Thinkpads for the little keyboard-illuminating LED in the lid. And dual-boot?!

No dual-boot. I "downgraded" from Vista Business to XP Pro for an additional price of $99. With this option, however, I get both licenses. Vista isn't installed, but I can do it later if I want to.

I have dual-boot on my desktop and haven't even touched Vista in more than a year. XP Pro serves me just fine.

Now at an open bar, well yeah then I understand.

The wedding couple actually gets all the profit from the bar. After all the expenses are taken care of.

I'm spent.

How much furnitures do you have? Are you collecting furnitures like portnoy collecting shoes?

ROFL VR, just furnishing a 3-bedroom house from literally nothing. It seems like a lot but it isn't, seriously.

Had no dining room table for 3 years. No chairs. 2 ratty couches that have now been disposed of. All we really had was the Baker Archetype bedroom set which I've.. grown very tired of but spent so much that we'll be keeping it for the foreseeable future. Still no coffee table or desk. I've got a ways to go without the money to do it.

Haha. I saw you had posted in this thread again, and thought to myself that you were single handedly keeping the furniture business in business.

Just cut my hair w/ the Oster Fast Feed. My brother bought it for me a few years ago -- after a cheap Wahl model I'd had for a dozen years finally broke for good. We considered the 76 but thought it'd be overkill. I hope to have mine for the rest of my life, and I hope yours lasts at least as long.

It's not for me, but for my 3 yr-old boy (depicted in my avatar at about 14 mos.) -- straight-up guard #2 for him all-over.

Sorry if I wasn't clear. The couple getting married pays more to upgrade to nicer booze if it's an open bar.

I'm not certain but if it's a cash bar, I would think the venue would charge different prices for basic vs. nice stuff and have the wedding party choose which they wanted to offer to their guests: Basic at this price or Nice at that price, choose one. But that's just a guess.

It was, and I knew this all before hand, basic liquors at $7 for a mixed drink and $6 for a bottle of beer. So I put somehting I liked in my flask and had better drinks all night. Hey, you can make fun of me for bringing a flask, but compared to the other side of my family who bought their first beer then went to their room every 20 minutes and refilled that bottle of beer, i didn't have to leave the wedding to get a drink and not be charged $7 for an ounce of bad gin.

Nice, I'm using a X61T. I like my imac but there are times when you just need windows and parallels/boot camp doesn't quite work eg sopcast.
