Is an 8:30 AM class doable? - Page 3

Are you guys serious? I don't know why colleges don't offer more 7 a.m. classes. I had a 7:15 a.m. lab once and it was awesome to get so much done before lunch.

+1. My life consisted of waking up and having class from 730 til 10 AM, nap til lunch, class til 3, nap til 6, class and homework from 6 to 8, nap til 10, homework and drinking from 10 til 2, sleep from 2 til 730.
Life was awesome.

when you graduate and become a work drone, chances are you'll be up well before 8:30. while you still have control over your life, might as well set your own schedule. start early if you're a morning person, start late if you're not.

Same here. Early labs are great. Then again, so are late ones.

There is a community college near here that offers either 6am or 6:30am classes, I can't remember which.

I am not a morning person. I am not a morning person perhaps more than anyone you know, AND, I never get drunk. I just hate mornings. When on vacation, I default to a sleep schedule of 2am -10am. That said, I had a number of 8am classes in college, and as I lived 34-1/2 minutes away, this was not fun. One I particularly remember (with horror) invited us to work with this: I'm really enjoying law school these days. ~ H

Oh c'mon that's not that bad once you know what it is. It only looks intimidating. :P

Meheheh, since you are in dynamics I bet you actually do know what it is. Dynamics was one of my most hated classes ever, mainly because I really, really, was offended by the Prof, who once let the class argue about a Coriolis force for 40minutes and then never resolved the question. Thanks, Doc, you are one of the things I hated about engineering undergrad. I am not a kinematician. Anyway, the cylindrical form was one of the largest equations I could think of from fluids. I wouldn't really call it all that simple though. Bernoulli is simple. ~ H

I said not that bad. That can be miles away from simple hehe. BTW was the argument about what a pseudoforce is? Because that is always the most hilarious argument ever when engineering students have it. It's like watching two legless guys fight over one crutch, amazingly horrible trainwreck but i just can't stop watching.

just depends on the person, I have 8am class MWF and 6am class Tu/Tr. Works fine for me. But i love my mornings, usually im up by 430, 5 at the latest... which means it's just about bed time now.

Conceptual learning of the integral allows for a much easier movement out of the cartesian plane. That's how i studied it as undergrad.

I've had three 8 a.m. classes. The first was my third semester of college, so I could still faintly recall having to wake up at 6:30 a.m. every day in high school.

The next was the summer of 2007. I missed too many classes and failed. The third I probably only went to half of the time, but still passed because it was more of a project-oriented class.

Definitely not for me. I wouldn't be so quick to compare early classes to an actual job. One can prep you for the other, but the two weren't that similar for me. I worked at a newspaper for a semester two years ago. I had to be up there by 8 every morning. With a couple of exceptions, this was never a problem. I got into the routine of getting up that early every morning.

But with early classes, it didn't work since I only had those twice a week. The rest of the time, I probably didn't need to be anywhere until early afternoon. I never got into a groove with waking up early in those cases.

Majoring in physics in undergrad, my most important classes were at 8am. Classical mechanics, E&M, and quantum were all 8am classes. Needless to say, I was not a fan.

8am exams are worse.
