This works if the class is given more than once. Back in my day, Bio 104 was given at 8 and 10 AM. I asked for the 10, but to make sure, I scoured the course catalogue for a unique class given at 8 AM. I was therefore given the 10 AM Bio 104. On the first day of the 8 AM unique class, I dropped it with the prof's signature. So, I had to get up early only once.

An 8:30 AM class is doable for you the same way any woman is doable for you. You eagerly anticipate the action, tell all your friends it's going to happen, post about it on SF, knock back "a few" to get in the right mood, then "class" is canceled.

Don't even think about it.
