I can only chalk it up to a failure on the part of Mac OS auto spell check. BTW, it's all fun and games until you are left without a job and in this economy its a possibility.

I think you should add to your CV your incredible skill at blaming external sources for your errors and shortcomings. It will serve you well in the working world.
