Hotels in Los Angeles

Thread Starter
I'm taking my girlfriend to Los Angeles in two weeks, and we're still deciding on which hotel to stay in. Should we book a room at the Four Seasons Beverly Hills or the Beverly Wilshire (which is also a Four Seasons). My friend recommended Shutters on the Beach in Santa Monica, but I don't want to stay in Santa Monica. Somewhere in Beverly Hills or Hollywood. What other hotels are in the same league? Thanks.

Ermitage is OK too. I prefer the FS to the BW.

There is another thread on this. I didn't like Shutters.

don't stay in hotels in LA either since I live here but I had a room at the Beverly Wilshire, it was nice...if you're going to be hanging around the area alot, its pretty good...not as luxurious or extravagant as you'd think though. Kind of an old money vibe to it...in comparison to the.....

SLS is very cool and new. Kind of a scene though..never stayed there. very modern hotel and its a definite experience....I'd suspect its kind of snobby and not very friendly.

Had a few events at the Sofitel...and its right on Beverly/La Cieniega so its pretty walkable to several areas. Great service and across the street from the Beverly Center...although Rodeo might be a good area to be in too.....

The Penninsula hotel is very nice on Little Santa Monica in Beverly Hills too.

I've also heard nice things about the Mondrian, although I've only seen the bar and pool/dining areas (which are nice enough). Probably a bit a younger/hipper crowd; you can decide whether that's a plus or a minus from your perspective.

I think you're right to not stay in Santa Monica, unless you're really look for a beach-centric vacation. BH or HW would put you in a much more central location.

Mondrian is nice, and the Studio rooms are great, but you risk having noise until the wee hours of the morning by staying there.

The last time I stayed at a hotel in SoCal I was at the Disneyland.

If I was going to spend a lot of money I'd consider staying at the Chateau Marmont for a very "L.A." experience. I think the Bel Air is closed for remodelling so that's out. Maybe look at the new Montage in Beverly Hills, too. I'm familiar with the other Montage in Laguna and it's very nice.

This is more or less a copy of the last thread.

The Mondrian is a dump. CM is cool for a night or two.

I hope she's worth it. The BH Hilton is pretty decent too.

I've only stayed at the Standard on sunset. cool place, good location.

Never stayed there, but I always thought The Argyle was a cool hotel, just down the street from Standard on sunset. Used to go there for 40s big band swing nites and the thought came to my head it'd be a nice place to stay.

+1 on the Marmont because of cachet and history.... My last trip I stayed at the Beverly Hilton, which is a step below the two you mentioned, but I had a wonderful stay, nice suite, and the service was impeccable. If I had more cash to spend, I probably would have wandered across the street to the Peninsula.... it looked amazing. If you're going to Santa Monica, the Huntley is pretty sweet.

if you want somethin in between santa monica and those sunset strip hotels the palomar in westwood is nice. mondrian is a favorite among higher charging hookers
